Dermatologists specialize in the multitude of conditions that affect the skin, hair, and nails.  Like other branches of medicine, dermatology has evolved as new innovations and treatments have been discovered and introduced.  Dr. Mary Finnegan – who leads Braddock Finnegan Helget Dermatology in partnership with fellow dermatologist Dr. Blake Helget – said even if a person was treated for a condition years ago and saw insufficient improvement or only marginal results, her team is likely to be able to offer promising new options.

“New classes of drugs are now available to treat common diseases we see like psoriasis, eczema and vitiligo,” Finnegan said.  “We also have updated protocols on pre-cancer treatments with photodynamic therapy.  We’re using multiple modalities to treat cosmetic concerns, like Ultherapy and chemical peels.  We’ve also seen un uptick in hair loss, and the therapeutics for hair loss have been updated; we can do in-office therapy called PRP but the medications and therapeutics have also advanced.”

No matter what the procedure, the team strives to provide the very highest standard of care, Finnegan added.
